Jig-Up Motorized Ice Fishing Tip-Up
For maximum effectiveness out on the ice, consider the following Jig-Up tips:
- In excessive cold, heavy overcast or strong wind, ice holes often freeze over. Under these extreme conditions we recommend coupling the Jig-Up with an ice hole cover, such as a black Artic Fisherman, which absorbs solar heat. Insert the Jig-Up shaft into the center of the hole cover and place as flush as possible on the ice or snow surface. This forms a seal that increases insulation and helps prevent freeze up.
- Skim the hole as clean as possible of ice and slush before setting the Jig-Up.
- At the end of the day, take your Jig-Ups inside so they completely dry out. Store them spool-down, so water does not collect in the motor housing and freeze.
- If the Jig-Up freezes, thaw the unit completely inside a warm fish house or vehicle before resetting.
- When possible, use batteries that have been stored at room temperature, which yield longer run times.
